Sea Belles A Cappella Chorus is a competitive women’s four part a cappella chorus based in Saint John, New Brunswick. We strive for excellence in competition and performance but have FUN as well. We are always looking for new members to join us.
We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 at the Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent, Saint John. Practices are from late August to June each year. Contact our president; see link below.
You don’t have to know how to read music, but you do need to be able to carry a tune and must be at least 14 years old. Singing is not only fun, it is aerobic …. and the breathing exercises help improve your overall health and well being. Each week is a “free” singing lesson with our reputable music director. Sea Belles are encouraging youths, 14 – 25, to join our chorus and experience the wonderful sound of four part a cappella harmony. Sea Belles is also a terrific opportunity to share a love of music with a daughter, mother and/or grand-daughter or friend.
Something pretty amazing happens when you sing in close 4-part harmony. In addition to having 26+ friends together for the evening, we always leave rehearsal with more energy than we walked in with. It is a wonderful hobby for mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins and friends to share. We accept new members on a weekly basis.
In addition to competing in barbershop singing competitions once or twice each year, we perform throughout the community at various events and at nursing homes, malls and other public spaces during the Christmas season.
