Sea Belles have FUN at rehearsals!

Love a cappella harmony? Want to learn about how to sing this style of music? Can you carry a tune? Always wanted to perform but were too shy or didn’t feel you had the talent?

If you have answered YES to any of these questions, the time is right for you to begin the journey of your life that you will never forget.

Sea Belles in Saint John, NB, a local women’s 4 part a cappella harmony chorus, is always looking for new members to join them in this wonderful hobby.

We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 9:30 at the Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent, Saint John.  Practices continue from September to June each year.

You don’t have to have a terrific voice or know how to read music. You just need to be able to carry a tune and be 14 years of age plus. Singing is not only fun, it is aerobic …. and the breathing exercises help improve your overall health and well being. Each week is a “free” singing lesson with our reputable music director. What more could you ask for in a hobby?

Sea Belles are encouraging youth, 14 – 25, to join our chorus and experience the wonderful sound of 4 part a cappella harmony.
Currently we have 3 youth members but are looking for more as they are the future of 4 part a cappella harmony singing in the barbershop style.

Sea Belles is also a terrific opportunity to share a love of music with a daughter, mother and/or grand-daughter. We currently have two sets of mother- daughter members . Here is what mother Mandie Nickerson says about her experience with Sea Belles with her daughter Sarah:

Mandie and Sarah

“My daughter and I started going to Sea Belles’ rehearsals in September 2014. What a wonderful group of ladies! We officially joined in October. Sea Belles is a great opportunity to share our love of music, grow as performers and have fun together. I am so glad this group exists! It is a privilege to have the chance to work with and learn from such a talented director. I look forward to many years of singing with our new found sisters in harmony.”

Something pretty amazing happens when you sing in close 4-part harmony. In addition to having 54 friends together for the evening, we always leave rehearsal with more energy than we walked in with. It is a wonderful hobby for mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins to share. We accept new members on a weekly basis.

In addition to competing in barbershop singing competitions, we perform throughout the community at various events and at nursing homes during the Christmas season.

We would be delighted to answer any questions you have regarding membership. Please contact us at
